Both starting pitching and the bullpen can be fingered for most of the Rangers' 2H issues, and these are two areas that will again be the primary focal points for the front office this winter. That SPs Max Scherzer and Nathan Eovaldi remain under contract through 2024 is obviously good news for the Rangers. But Scherzer turns 40 next season, and his bottom-line performance, skills (3.91 / 4.03 ERA/xERA) and health are already suspect. Eovaldi has been superb (2.90 / 3.72 ERA/xERA) when whole, but he's missed six weeks in the 2H with a forearm strain—and at age 34 with a poor health history, more injury timeouts are likely.
