DIVISIONAL OUTLOOK: AL West—LAA's 3B problem

This past winter Alberto Callaspo (3B, LAA) was signed to a two-year, $9M deal as a stopgap 3B option. While fantasy owners may not have been thrilled with Callaspo's empty 90% ct% and a BA nearer .250 than .290 in two of the previous three seasons, LAA's logic was that Callaspo also brought a double-digit bb% and solid defense to the table. The Angels were banking on an otherwise potent offense that could absorb any power-and-speed shortcomings Callaspo had with the bat.
