NEWS: The Mets re-signed Pete Alonso to a two-year contract with an option to opt-out after the first year.
IMPACT: High 
BHQ SPIN: Alonso will reportedly be paid $30 million in year one. If he does not exercise his opt-out option, he will reportedly earn $24 million in year two. Alonso is coming off consecutive seasons in which his numbers have fallen off from his peak performance seasons. Yet, his 2024 season still featured 34 homers, a 140 PX, and a .789 OPS. He also played in all 162 games for the Mets. Since he arrived in the majors, Alonso is second in homers (behind Aaron Judge) and first in RBI.
