There was a time in the latter half of spring training, not long ago, when the outlook for the San Francisco outfield was starting feel, well, settled—a promising (aka, contact-making) Jarrett Parker (OF, SF) in left, bounce-back candidate Denard Span (OF, SF) in center, and healing Hunter Pence (OF, SF) in right. Within the last week, however, uncertainty has again reared its head. Parker’s strong start has been followed by a cold spell that continued through the end of spring—with him striking out in 14 of his last 27 spring ABs.
