Rebuilding teams are often accused—and rightly so—of holding back prospects with the ostensible excuse that they need to “work on their defense” before they can be promoted. In the case of Luis García (2B/SS, WAS), that excuse actually happens to hold water. The 22-year-old made his MLB debut in 2020 and wasn’t completely overmatched at the plate for a player his age (.668 OPS, 82 HctX, .259 xBA). Last season saw him make adjustments in his time with the Nationals (.686 OPS, 106 HctX, .286 xBA), but García was exposed in the field while transitioning back to SS in the wake of the Trea Turner (SS, LA) trade as he really struggled to make plays (-3 DRS, -6 OAA in 68.1 Inn).
