Last week, we speculated on how DH plate appearances might look for the Dodgers due to Shohei Ohtani sitting more often to nurse his various ailments. Our prediction that Dalton Rushing would benefit the most from Ohtani’s absences hasn’t manifested itself as Rushing struggles to shake his own injury problems. This week, he found himself back on the IL as of Sunday, September 6th, after just 5 September plate appearances (in which he went 0 of 4 with 3 Ks, reaching base once due to a HBP).

Now, with Ohtani officially headed to the IL, prospect Josue De Paula enters the playing time rotation for L.A. According to manager Dave Roberts, we should expect to see De Paula get the “lion’s share” of DH at bats,...
