PT TOMORROW: NL East—Kimbrel dealing with shoulder soreness

Craig Kimbrel (RHP, ATL) experienced shoulder soreness following his outing on April 12 and is considered day-to-day. Both the team and Kimbrel are downplaying the ailment as minor and nothing of concern. However, Kimbrel said that he also had some discomfort in the shoulder back in spring training as well, so it’s certainly reasonable to be at least somewhat concerned. Kimbrel played catch on April 15 and continues to downplay the issue. However, if this turns out to be something that eventually requires a stint on the disabled list, who would take over closer duties?

Jordan Walden (RHP, ATL) and David Carpenter (RHP, ATL) top the list of options. Though Carpenter got the call on April 14, we can’t assume he’s the choice...
