José Peraza (SS, CIN) failed to follow his breakout 2018 campaign with any type of similar success early on in 2019. The result was a loss in playing time, with the likes of Derek Dietrich (1B/2B, CIN) and José Iglesias (SS, CIN) taking over the primary work at second base and shortstop. The return of Scooter Gennett (2B, CIN) only further blocked Peraza’s potential for playing time.

Of late, however, Peraza’s fortunes seem to be turning around. In 29 July at-bats, Peraza has posted an impressive slugging percentage of .655. Not known for his power, that surge has largely been backed by his indicators, as he’s also managed a 137 xPX, .306 xBA, and 79 BPV. While this short stretch isn’t enough to erase the damage done...
