Typically, when a top prospect is called up late in the season, it’s a safe bet to assume they’ll begin the following campaign on the big-league roster – barring a complete disaster of a debut. Masyn Winn (SS, STL) has had a rough start to his career in St. Louis in most skill areas except for the ability to make consistent contact. He still has some time to turn that around, as well as turning in a strong spring training performance, but his role in 2024 shouldn’t be considered secure as things currently stand.

Like the outfield, the Cardinals’ infield projects to have a lot of competition next season. Both Paul Goldschmidt (1B, STL) and Nolan Arenado (3B, STL) are locked into their jobs. That leaves, at a minimum,
