PT TOMORROW: NL Central - Chavis makes his case

Pittsburgh Pirates 

All eyes remain on the potential return to the majors for Oneil Cruz (SS, PIT), though there’s plenty of jockeying for playing time in Pittsburgh without him. The middle infield is the primary area, where Hoy Park (2B, PIT), Cole Tucker (SS/OF, PIT), and Diego Castillo (2B/SS, PIT) continue to fight over the primary job at second base. However, one player who isn’t getting nearly as much attention is Michael Chavis (1B, PIT). 

Chavis has only been in the lineup four times (through Sunday), starting at first base twice, designated hitter once, and third base once. He’s taken advantage of that limited opportunity, slugging a grand slam in the team’s opening series at St. Louis. Over the team’s more recent weekend...
