Jackie Bradley Jr. (OF, BOS) has a hard-earned reputation as a streaky hitter. But if his current cold spell persists—he was 0-for-24 in his last eight games through the end of June—one has to wonder whether he might not be long for the Red Sox roster.

Ironically, just before the current slump, there had been reporting in the local press about how Bradley had managed to turn the page on an abysmal 2021 in Milwaukee with the help of wearing a contact lens in his right eye, the one facing the pitcher, to address astigmatism. And indeed, Bradley’s contact rate of 78% is much improved from last year’s 66%, the lowest of his career.
