PT TOMORROW: AL East — In BAL, Means loses his way

Since being selected as an All-Star team but somewhat famously not pitching in the game, John Means (LHP, BAL) has struggled to resume the level of performance that earned him the honor.

Means’ post-All-Star-break PQS log reads 1-1-0-2-0, and he has failed to get out of the fourth inning in any of his last three starts. Over that span, Means has given up 21 ER in 22.2 IP and seven home runs.

Means did a short stint on the injured list at the end of July and the beginning of August with a shoulder injury. While manager Brandon Hyde has insisted that Means is healthy, the results suggest that assessment should not necessarily be taken at face value. Then again, Means had also be due for some regression, given how much...
