PT TOMORROW: AL Central - Don't count on DET for SB

by Brent Hershey and Ray Murphy

Detroit Tigers

Coming into 2022, the Tigers lineup could easily be seen as a group who might struggle to score runs. By extension, it wasn’t difficult to talk yourself into thinking that the team might freely use the stolen base to move runners along and enhance scoring opportunities. Outfielder Robbie Grossman and shortstop Javy Báez had solid SB seasons in their past; and with outfielders Riley Greene and Akil Baddoo trending towards the opening-day roster, there were two more players fleet of foot that one could expect to be aggressive on the basepaths.

August update: Ehhhh, not so much. In fact, the Tigers have stolen just 28 bases total in 106 games, tied for next-to-last among all MLB clubs....

Almost!
