Heston Kjerstad’s 2026 season has been an uphill battle from the beginning. After being a long shot to make Baltimore’s Opening Day roster, he began the year on the IL due to a hamstring strain suffered in March. Once Kjerstad recovered from the injury, he began a minor league rehab assignment but was optioned to Triple-A upon its conclusion and has remained there since.
In the month-plus period following the start of Kjerstad’s rehab assignment, he failed to find his footing offensively. From May 12 (when the rehab assignment was transferred to Triple-A) through June 19, he hit just .271/.302/.356 in 126 PA. Since then, though, Kjerstad’s bat has shown signs of life, as he’s hit .345/.365/.621 with 4 HR in 63...
