Torrens takes over Mets' catching duties

NEWS: New York placed C Francisco Alvarez on the 10-day IL with a right meniscus tear and recalled C Hayden Senger from the minors.
IMPACT: High 
BHQ SPIN: Alvarez will require surgery to repair his knee, forcing him to miss at least the next six to eight weeks. He had been acting as the everyday catcher prior to the injury. Regular catching duties will be handled by Luis Torrens who’s in the midst of his worst offensive campaign. The 30-year-old right-handed hitter has slashed .208/.255/.292 (52 PA) with a 57 wRC+. Senger will act as the backup to Torrens behind the plate.
