RELIEVERS: Current closers

This column is dedicated to the current closers and what the skill sets to date tell us about the balance of the year. The easiest way to examine them is by division, starting with the AL East.

The AL East has the MLB saves leader, who is once again Jim Johnson (RHP, BAL). It has iconic all-time great Mariano Rivera (RHP, NYY) taking his last lap around the league. It has colorful Fernando Rodney (RHP, TAM) who has dropped off a bit from 2012. Casey Janssen (RHP, TOR) has been steady as can be for Toronto. And Boston has employed a handful of closers who were injured one after the other until Koji Uehara (RHP, BOS) took over. Their skill sets:

AL East SV IP DOM CMD HR/9 xERA G/F BPV
