Every offseason the free agents shake up the bullpen landscape. There are some juicy options this offseason as we shift into an early look towards 2027. Let's talk about some of them starting with four prime closer options.
Both David Bednar (RHP, NYY) and Raisel Iglesias (RHP, ATL) will be free agents leaving the New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves either looking for new options or working to sign their incumbent. The Boston Red Sox closer Aroldis Chapman (LHP, BOS) could become a free agent if the team does not exercise its $13M option and instead uses the $300k buyout. And the Seattle Mariners have an $8M option on closer Andrés Muñoz (RHP, SEA) for 2027. Here are the numbers to date:
| SV | HD | IP | ERA | xERA | WHIP | K% | K-BB% | HR/9 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bednar, David | 31 | 0 |
