RELIEVERS: The closer caliber skills chart

This week we examine another skill indicator chart—the Closer Caliber Skills chart, found under the Leading Indicators tab of the Skills menu here at BaseballHQ.com. This chart lists the best skill sets for the season and is updated daily. We will refine it further for the purposes of this column. First, we eliminate any reliever with fewer than 20 innings pitched. While that may eliminate some highly skilled relievers, it also helps eliminate anomalous data. Twenty innings are still too few, but at least those relievers have faced a few teams and likely been in enough situations to have good and bad outings. Second, we cull the data set by eliminating relievers with a BPV under 100 and xERA over 3.50. This eliminates fewer relievers...
