Getting multiple season looks at prospects is incredibly productive when evaluating their talent and their want. A lot of teams with pro scouts, either assigning their scouts on a regional/league-specific basis, on a cross-checking basis, or to cover a specific organization’s players. If I was a pro scout, I’d want to scout specific orgs year in, year out, instead of the other approaches since it’s the easiest opportunity to become an expert on players. Covering two leagues (South Atlantic League & Southern League) on a regional basis, I only have three orgs with teams in both leagues, the Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, and the Tampa Bay Rays.
