GM's OFFICE: Fantasy contender or not: Early takeaways from 2020

Well, congratulations; we made it!

This is a phrase that has had—and will continue to have—significant meaning on many levels of this worst-case-scenario calendar year. We used it as we always do—and flippantly in retrospect—when spring training camps opened in February: “Ohhh, how bad we had it over the winter.” Then March happened, which in our world rolled into an April-May-June of no baseball. But when the first pitch of the 2020 season was thrown on July 23, the phrase showed up again. I wasn’t the only one who had doubts about baseball’s ability to complete even a short season, but I’m glad I was wrong about the MLB community being able to complete this 60-game sprint.
