Excitement abounds in San Diego, as the Padres are off to a winning start (14-11) despite an offense that’s been scuffling a bit, with a .697 OPS that ranks them 21st in MLB.

One position where they continue to lack production is at second base, with Ian Kinsler (2B, SD) owning a paltry .155/.241/.282 line through 71 at-bats. His slowly fading skills, discussed here by Stephen Nickrand, likely contributed to the call-up of prospect Luis Urías (2B, SD) on April 8. But Urias couldn’t gain much traction in the early going, with just 2 hits in 24 at-bats, and he was ultimately sent down this past weekend to get consistent work in the minors.
