With as prolific a base stealer as Trea Turner (SS, WAS)—who has averaged 39.5 SB over the past four seasons—it comes as a major surprise that entering September, the Nationals were dead-last in the NL in team stolen bases with nine. Worse yet, they’ve been thrown out nine times (that’s—yes—a 50% success rate). What gives? And is this a small sample anomaly or just par-for-the-course, 2020 weirdness?
