The Mets just got hit with a record $101 million luxury tax for a team that finished fourth in the National League East, which is a good reminder that big contracts to veteran stars doesn't guarantee a championship to any team. As if that reminder wasn't bad enough, they also lost star prospect Ronny Mauricio to a torn ACL during the Dominican Winter League. Mauricio was a September call up for a 2023 Mets team that couldn't decide whether they should let the kids play or give those at bats to Daniel Vogelbach instead.
