The top offseason question for the Yankees will be to find a replacement at shortstop for the retiring Derek Jeter (SS, NYY). Almost by default, the team is likely to improve upon Jeter’s 19 extra-base hits in 2014, unless it decides to hand the full-time job to Brendan Ryan (2B, NYY). More likely, the team will find its starter in free agency.

The team will also welcome back—if “welcome” is the right word—Alex Rodriguez (3B, NYY), who is set to turn 40 in the middle of next season. At this point in his career, despite being owed $61 million over the next three seasons, Rodriguez may be best suited for a DH role, with sporadic backup duty at 1B and 3B.
