Travis d’Arnaud (C, TAM) seems to have quickly endeared himself to the powers-that-be in Tampa Bay. Not only did the Rays banish now-healthy former back-up catcher Michael Pérez (C, TAM) to Triple-A Durham to retain D’Arnaud on the roster, as noted by Matt Dodge in Playing Time Today, but they seem to be motivated to find ways to get d’Arnaud into the lineup at other positions.

After having been spotted working out at first base and in the corner outfield positions, d’Arnaud actually made a start at first on June 13, as Ji-Man Choi (1B, TAM) took his customary seat on the bench against a left-handed pitcher, which allowed Austin Meadows (OF, TAM) to take the night off as well.
