Even those who heeded the Baseball Forecaster’s warning “don't expect full redux of ace numbers just yet” have to be surprised at the degree to which Alek Manoah (RHP, TOR) has struggled early in the season.

Manoah has walked almost as many batters as he has struck out in the early season (16/15 K/BB), and there is not much of a spread between his actual and expected ERAs (6.98/6.42).

Understandably, Toronto has said it intends to be patient with Manoah, believing that better command will bring better results.

That remains true even though top pitching prospect Ricky Tiedemann (LHP, TOR) had an eye-popping first outing for AA-New Hampshire April 14, with nine strikeouts in three shutout innings (2 H, 0 BB).
