Publicly, Yankees GM Brian Cashman has said that Aaron Hicks (OF, NYY) will enter spring training with a leg up to serve as the team’s starting left fielder, though that may be the $30.5 million Hicks is owed over the next three years talking more than merit.
While Hicks’ high walk rate kept his on-base percentage in an acceptable range, his flagging power skills and xBA suggest he is more than capable of losing that front-runner status in short order.
