PT TOMORROW: AL Central—Rodriguez to join KC rotation down the stretch?

The Royals have shored up their pitching depth by signing Wandy Rodriguez (LHP, KC) and Joba Chamberlain (RHP, KC) to minor league deals. With their strong bullpen, it doesn’t seem likely that Chamberlain has a path to major league playing time, but with the struggles of the rotation there is a real possibility that Rodriguez could get a shot at a starting job.

Rodriguez's surface stats look miserable. In 86 IP he has a 4.90 ERA/1.56 WHIP. However, his ERA has been inflated by a 34% H%. If we take out two relief appearances at the end of his Texas tenure and a disastrous start against Oakland in June, he has a 3.33 ERA/1.35 WHIP over 14 starts.
