AL Central: Manning awaits another opportunity

The team is off to a good start, as they'll head into the weekend with a 7-4 record, a season after going 78-84. But the starting rotation checks in with the seventh-highest ERA to date, with a 4.78 mark. 

It is still very early, but Kenta Maeda (RHP, DET) and Reese Olson (RHP, DET) have struggled out of the gate. Maeda has seen his average fastball velocity dip to 89.2 MPH, down from 90.7 in 2023, and he's allowed 9 ER in 9 IP with a 5/5 K/BB through two starts. Olson sports a 6/5 K/BB in two starts, though his velocity and SwK suggest there's no reason to be concerned at this point.

The pressure will be on all of the starters to perform, as Matt Manning (RHP, DET) is awaiting his next opportunity while at Triple-A Toledo....
