The Nationals are 38-42 at the exact mid point of their season, and lurking in the vast middle of National League teams who are still within five games of a Wild Card spot. They've put their foot on the gas a bit as they open a five game series against the Rays with news that their top prospect, James Wood, will be called up to the show to make his big league debut on Monday.

Wood was one of the prospects that the Padres traded to the Nationals in return for Juan Soto. So far in Triple-A this season he's slashed .346/.458/.578 with 10 home runs and 10 stolen bases.
