Franklin Gutiérrez' latest DL stint and Michael Saunders' (OF, SEA) season-long disaster (.488 OPS) have thrown Dustin Ackley (2B/OF, SEA) into the fire. A .205 BA (.219 xBA) with just one HR in his first 150+ AB resulted in Ackley's late May demotion to Triple-A—where the Mariners hoped he could re-group and learn CF as they auditioned their next wave of middle-infield prospects. Ackley produced in Tacoma (.365 BA; a solid 19/14 BB/K). But after just nine games in CF, he was rushed back to SEA for some MLB on-the-job training. Ackley promptly jammed his thumb diving for a ball in his weekend which has him shelved for a few days, and a career .237 AB after 1100+ AB leave legitimate questions as to his offensive...
