AL West: Crowded starting rotation brewing in Houston

Houston Astros

We recently discussed the embarrassment of riches that the Astros have returning from the IL. What we did not factor into the returning pitchers is the fact that Jason Alexander has pitched so well that it may be hard to remove him from the rotation. Alexander has allowed two earned runs or less in his last five starts for a 1.93 ERA and 3.88 SIERA. He has 24 strikeouts and seven walks over 28 innings pitched for a 15.3% K-BB. With Alexander’s success and the Astros already using a 6-man rotation, who is the odd starting pitcher out when Luis H. Garcia returns next week?

One of the options could be Spencer Arrighetti. He has allowed two runs in two of his last five starts, but five runs in each of the other three....

Almost!
