After starting the 2023 season in AAA and without a spot on Baltimore’s 40-man roster, Ryan O'Hearn had a breakthrough season, emerging as a key offensive cog for a Baltimore team that won its first division title since 2014. The increase in playing time that led to O'Hearn’s emergence was largely made possible by an opening at first base following an extended absence for Ryan Mountcastle, who missed around a month due to a bout with vertigo.
