AL East: Orioles prospects facing logjam

The Norfolk Tides, Baltimore’s AAA affiliate, entered the year with a loaded lineup that featured five hitters (Jackson Holliday, Heston Kjerstad, Coby Mayo, Connor Norby, and Kyle Stowers) all knocking at the door for a potential big league call-up. While all five hitters have performed well at the AAA level, only Holliday has received a call-up to this point and none of the remaining four hitters have a clear path to a call-up, barring injury.

Kjerstad has been the top performer of Norfolk’s lineup, hitting .349/.431/.744 with 10 HR in 102 PA. After showing flashes in a brief cameo for Baltimore last season (.233/.281/.497, 2 HR in 32 PA), he entered the spring in competition for a role as a left-handed hitting...
