AL East: Is Hopkins turning a corner?

Coming into the season, Brody Hopkins, the top-ranked prospect in our 2026 Rays Org Report and the No. 69 prospect in our 2026 HQ100, was believed to have major league-quality stuff but needed to show improved control to work his way into the major league rotation mix. Hopkins lived up to that billing in his first starts of the season. The right-hander recorded a 3.98 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 43 innings but was effectively wild, issuing an astounding 42 walks during that span.
In his two most recent appearances, however, Hopkins has shown signs of putting his control issues behind him. On May 29 and June 4, Hopkins turned in back-to-back dominant outings, pitching to a combined line of 10 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 16 K, and 3 BB....
