AL Central: Failure to launch

Minnesota Twins

Coming into the 2021 season, Minnesota had a promising group of young hitting prospects who looked like they might form the offensive core of the next great Twins team. That group included multiple first and second-round draft picks: C Ryan Jeffers (2nd round, #59 overall, 2018), OF-1B Alex Kirilloff (1st round, #15, 2016), OF Trevor Larnach (1st round, #20, 2018), SS-3B Royce Lewis (1st round, #1, 2017), and OF Matt Wallner (1st round, #39, 2019).

Five years later, only Jeffers has truly panned out. Kirilloff was forced into early retirement by injuries by age 26. Larnach, Lewis, and Wallner are still with the Twins, and while there was hope they would be key contributors by now, that hasn't happened, at least not...
