Yankees mulling alternatives to LeMahieu

AMERICAN LEAGUE

New York Yankees
NEWS: 3B DJ LeMahieu was out of the lineup for the Yankees on July 21, and manager Aaron Boone was noncommittal when asked if LeMahieu’s absence would last more than a day.

BHQ SPIN: LeMahieu told reporters that he is “100% healthy,” despite appearances to the contrary with his performance at the plate. The playoff-bound Yankees will no doubt have third base near the top of their trade deadline shopping list, but in the near term, if LeMahieu sits, the primary beneficiary, at least against right-handed pitching, should be Oswaldo Cabrera. J.D. Davis could be another option against southpaws, though Davis has been used exclusively at first base and DH during his time with the Yankees.
