PT TODAY: Rodón's New York debut delayed

NEWS: Yankees LHP Carlos Rodón will start the season on the IL with a forearm strain.

IMPACT: Medium

BHQ SPIN: This is obviously not the start New York was hoping for from its $162 million man, but at least for the moment, there has been no indication that the injury will lead to surgery or a prolonged absence. Rodón will not throw for seven to 10 days and then try to get back on track. Rodón’s absence means that there is room in the Yankees rotation for both RHP Domingo Germán and RHP Clarke Schmidt. Germán has given up 1 ER in 5.1 IP so far this spring (7/1 K/BB), while Schmidt has given up 6 ER in 6.2 IP but with a strong 10/1 K/BB.
