PT TODAY: Pfaadt returns to Diamondbacks rotation

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Diamondbacks

NEWS: Arizona recalled right-handed starter Brandon Pfaadt.

IMPACT: Medium

BHQ SPIN: Pfaadt was recalled to enter a rotation that is somewhat in shambles with multiple members currently on the IL. The young hurler was solid enough in his return (6 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 6 K) to warrant sticking on the roster for at least one more start. Arizona has been hoping for Pfaadt (+1%) to adjust to the Major Leagues and become a consistent member of the rotation, so even when Merrill Kelly and Zach Davies return, he could secure his role on the big league club if he pitches well enough over the next couple of weeks. Justin Martinez (-1%) was optioned to the minors in a corresponding move.
