NEWS: Miami acquired Jake Burger, Josh Bell and Ryan Weathers in a trio of trades that cost the team Garrett Cooper, Jean Segura and two prospects.

BHQ SPIN: Burger is expected to become Miami’s every day third baseman. He’s been a very good power source, but he’s only batting .214 with a .279 OBP. His xBA, however, is .270 and his hit rate has been 23%. Those numbers suggest a batting average rise could be in his future. Bell is expected to get time at DH and first base. Like Burger, he’s been a batting average drag (.233 AVG and .235 xBA), but he has not been as much of a power source. Bell will essentially replace Cooper’s role with the Marlins.
