NEWS: San Francisco signed shortstop Paul DeJong to a major league contract.
IMPACT: Medium
BHQ SPIN: The Giants landed a replacement for the injured Brandon Crawford by inking DeJong (+10%) to a guaranteed contract. The longtime Cardinal batted .233 with 13 homers and a 95 wRC+ before being traded to the Blue Jays at the deadline where he had just three hits in 44 plate appearances. He homered in his first game with the Giants. The right-handed hitter will be the team’s everyday shortstop until Crawford returns, and will likely hold onto at least a share of the PT at shortstop when he makes it back. To make room for him, Johan Camargo (-25%) was designated for assignment.
