Lance Berkman suffers knee injury
It was just a week ago that it was discussed in this space how the Cardinals had more bats than they could fit in the lineup. Since then, players have been dropping like flies: Jon Jay (OF, STL), Allen Craig (OF, STL) and now Lance Berkman (1B, STL), who suffered a knee injury in the team's May 19 game. Less than a week after returning from the DL, Berkman now appears headed for a return trip.
In Berkman's absence, the Cardinals recalled top 1B prospect Matthew Adams (1B, STL), perhaps signaling that Berkman's absence will not be a short one. Adams entered the season with a career .316/.365/.552 minor league line and has done nothing to diminish his prospect status since, posting...
