Abreu injury punches Anthony's ticket to Boston

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Boston Red Sox
NEWS: Placed OF Wilyer Abreu on the 10-day IL with an oblique strain, and called up OF Roman Anthony from Triple-A Worcester.
IMPACT: High
BHQ SPIN: An injury to Abreu has solved Boston’s “how do we get our top prospect into the big-league lineup” conundrum, at least for now. Abreu figures to miss a few weeks with a strained oblique, and Anthony should get an everyday look in right field for the duration Abreu’s absence. For now, we have debited 10% PT from Abreu and transferred it to Anthony, who now sits at 40% PT total. Further adjustments are likely as this situation evolves. For more on Anthony, our #1 rated prospect from this past offseason’s HQ100 prospect list, see today’s Callup Report.
