With the 2012 draft in the books, we take a look back. Not surprisingly, there were several high profile prospects, particularly projectable high school pitchers, who slipped due to concerns about signability. Unlike in previous drafts, many of those players will be very difficult to sign.

When I began covering injuries back in 1993, Tommy John surgery was not nearly as successful as it is now. Torn labrums, flexor mass injuries, modified Mumford surgery, microfracture knee surgery and others were rarely reported because they either didn’t exist or the journalist reporting on the injury did not report true name for various reasons. And oblique injuries? Very, very rare.

There are many reasons for the Mets surprising start. On the surface, Dillon Gee (RHP, NYM) isn't one of them. With a 4-3 record and 4.69 ERA, he seems to be charting a similar course to last year. Look deeper, though, and good things are happening.
