RELIEVERS: Strategic targets

It appears that we will have a season. Projections have been re-calculated for a 60-game season. So let's begin again.

Let's get some things out of the way. Relievers are going to be so volatile in a 60-game season. Projected innings pitched for the top 20 relievers run between 20-30 innings and mostly center at 22-24 innings. Kirby Yates (RHP, SD) is currently projected for 22 innings with a 2.45 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. That's six earned runs. If Yates allows two more runs, that's a 3.27 ERA. If Yates allows two fewer runs, that's a 1.64 ERA.

This volatility spills out into value, too. Yates is worth $14 if he produces the projected 2.45 ERA. But a 3.27 ERA, all other things being equal, makes him worth only $10. That massive plus/minus...

Almost!
