BATTING: Unlucky Liners

By now, we’re all pretty comfortable with the idea that luck—good or bad—plays a role in batter performance. In particular, we’ve learned that batters tend to establish a hit rate (h%) and regress to it.
Our h% research has looked only at h% variance as it affects full seasons, and has identified only regressions that occur the full season after an outlier season.
Nonetheless, it stands to reason that batters experiencing unusual bad luck through a half-season might well enjoy better results in the half-season to come.
With that in mind, we looked at batters this season who have been unusually unlucky, and focused in particular on batters with low h% on line drives (LD).
