BATTING: SB targets on SB teams

Many fantasy owners looking for help down the stretch will look at the SB category because of the perception that a big SB guy like Rajai Davis or Ben Revere might move them quickly in the category.

But SBs are different from the other offensive cats in that they are subject to managerial or organizational philosophy. No manager can (or would want to) prevent a batter from generating hits or HR, but more than a few tell their runners to stay rooted to the bag and wait to be driven in.

If extra SBs can help, it makes sense to look for them in places where the team is aggressive about running. At the same time, it makes no sense to look for SBs by attaching your water-ski tow rope to a vessel whose captain has dropped anchor.
