One of charges of running a site like BaseballHQ.com is to look ahead—to always be seeking innovative ways of interpreting the data and information we have access to, and helping us—and by extension, you—better evaluate baseball players. That tenet has been a staple of BaseballHQ.com for its entire existence (nearly 20 years), cultivated and nurtured by founder Ron Shandler. Yes, it's hard to imagine, but there once was a time when fantasy baseball owners used last year's ERA as the prime predictive tool for the coming season.
