As Jock Thompson noted recently in PT Today, Buster Posey (C, SF) has left a sizeable void behind the dish in opting out of playing this season. Though Posey hasn't been particularly relevant since his last double-digit earnings in 2017, his name alone garners a mention among a dearth of backstop fantasy production.

Currently, SF is planning on rolling out Rob Brantly (C, SF) and Tyler Heineman (C, SF), neither of whom inspire confidence. Brantly is a 31 year-old journeyman who hasn't amassed more than 60 AB since 2013 and has never managed positive fantasy earnings in his career.
