Given the rash of injuries and bad news they’ve received since camp began, the Rockies are probably just about ready for spring training to be over with. One particularly troubling item was the news that Chad Bettis (RHP, COL) had experienced the recurrence/spread of testicular cancer, and would likely miss the bulk of the season.

Discussed in this space in early February, Jeff Hoffman (RHP, COL), Germán Márquez (RHP, COL) and Kyle Freeland (LHP, COL) were initially considered candidates to fill what was at the time the lone opening (i.e, the 5th spot in the rotation).
